Community Support
At the Mill Valley Market, we feel that supporting our community is just as important as selling great products. Since the beginning, we've done whatever we could to help out around town. During the Great Depression, Frank Canepa extended credit to his neighbors, and accepted trades in exchange for groceries.
Jim Canepa set the example for community involvement, serving as the president and/or board member of many organizations around town: the Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, Pop Warner Football, and many others.
Bob Canepa worked tirelessly for years to help improve our local public school system through helping found the Kiddo! Business Program. Through this program, Mill Valley Market and many other local businesses have raised money to fund the arts, physical education, and other extra-curricular activities in Mill Valley schools. We send our kids to these schools too and we want them to be as great as they can be.
David and Doug Canepa have continued the tradition, committing countless hours to volunteer efforts around town. David has coached numerous little league, soccer, and CYO basketball teams, in addition to coaching the Tam High Girl's Basketball program for many years. Likewise, Doug coached many youth teams when his children were young, and has coached the Mill Valley Little League for the past 20 years. In addition to their youth sports efforts they have both been on numerous city boards and panels to help improve the community.
Ryan Canepa has continued the spirit of community service through coaching the Tam High Boys Water Polo team, and he also serves on the board of the Mill Valley Chamber of Commerce.
